Common questions

Questions we get every March

When is the personal tax filing deadline in Canada?
For most Canadians it is April 30th. If you or your spouse are self-employed, you have until June 15th to file, but any balance owing is still due April 30th or interest starts. Filing early also gets your refund back sooner.
What documents do I need to file my T1 personal tax return?
Usually your T4 slips (employment income), T5 (investment income), T3 (trust income), RRSP contribution receipts, charitable donation receipts, medical expense receipts, and any other income slips. We send a document checklist once you reach out so nothing gets missed.
How much does personal tax filing cost in Canada?
Ours starts at $149. Students and seniors pay a flat $99. Self-employed and complex returns with rental income, capital gains, or foreign assets are quoted individually based on what is actually in them.
Can I file my Canadian taxes online if I live anywhere in Canada?
Yes. We work with clients across Canada. You share documents securely through the client portal, we prepare the return, and we file it with CRA electronically. No in-person meeting required.
How long does it take to get a tax refund from CRA?
Filed electronically through NETFILE, CRA typically processes refunds within 2 weeks. Filing in February or March generally moves faster than filing in the last week of April. Direct deposit shortens it further.
