Bookkeeping · Small business Canada

Monthly bookkeeping,
kept current.

Accounts reconciled, statements delivered, and GST/HST tracked as it happens. Bookkeeping for small businesses across Canada. From $249 a month.

Included

What you get every month

The same six things, on the same schedule, so nothing piles up and your year-end is a handover rather than an excavation.

01

Bank and card reconciliation

Every bank and credit card account reconciled monthly, with each transaction categorized properly the first time.

02

Receivables and payables

What you're owed and what you owe, with aging reports, so an unpaid invoice doesn't sit quietly for six months.

03

Monthly financial statements

Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow. Written so you can read them without an accountant translating.

04

GST/HST tracking

Tax on income and expenses tracked as it happens, so the filing takes minutes instead of a lost weekend.

05

Year-end package

Organized, CRA-ready financials handed to whoever prepares your corporate return. Including us, if you'd like.

06

Catchup and cleanup

Months or years of backlog brought current. We quote that separately and up front, before any work starts.

Who we help

Is this for you?

Most of our bookkeeping clients look like one of these. If yours isn't on the list, ask anyway.

Sole proprietors

Self-employed people who need organized records for tax filing and GST/HST, without hiring anyone.

Small businesses

One to twenty employees, and monthly numbers you can actually make a decision from.

Startups

New businesses setting records up properly on day one, instead of untangling them in year three.

E-commerce sellers

Shopify, Amazon or Etsy income that needs multi-channel reconciliation and GST/HST tracking.

Professional services

Consultants, contractors and agencies who invoice clients and need receivables watched closely.

Anyone badly behind

Months or years of backlog. That's routine work here, and nobody is going to make you feel bad about it.

Pricing

Questions

Questions we get asked

The five that come up in almost every first call about bookkeeping.

What is bookkeeping, and why does my small business need it?
Bookkeeping is the recording of every financial transaction in the business: income, expenses, invoices, payments. It keeps your records CRA-compliant, gives you accurate financial statements, and is what makes filing taxes or applying for a loan straightforward. Skip it and tax season turns into archaeology.
How often should bookkeeping be done in Canada?
Monthly is the standard for most small businesses. It keeps records current, keeps GST/HST remittances on time, and avoids the year-end panic. High-volume businesses often do better with weekly reconciliation. Doing it once a year is a false economy, because untangling twelve months at once always costs more.
What financial records does CRA want me to keep?
CRA requires you to retain supporting documents for at least 6 years: invoices, receipts, bank statements, contracts, and payroll records. We organize and store all of it as part of the service, so an audit request is a search rather than a scramble.
What accounting software do you use?
We work in QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Wave Accounting. If you don't have anything set up yet, we'll recommend a platform based on your transaction volume and budget, then set it up with you.
What's the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?
Bookkeeping is the day-to-day recording of transactions. Accounting is interpreting that data: preparing financial statements, filing returns, advising on what the numbers mean. SWS Accounting does both. Your books stay clean monthly, and we prepare the T2 corporate or T1 personal return at year-end.
